The CranioSacral system is an incredibly intelligent system that is constantly sensing and responding to what is happening in the environment around us. Have you ever walked into a room where two people have been arguing and you can feel it? Have you ever had the experience that some news gave you a "sinking feeling"?
We do have a felt sense of our world.
It has been my experience both personally and professionally that these senses can lie deep within our tissues, waiting to be seen and ready to be heard. These held emotions are a part of our physical holding patterns and can be the missing link in total resolution of our dysfunctional patterns, whether they be physical, emotional, cognitive, or spiritual. Not only are we conditioned by our modern world to shut off this felt sense, to override it, but trauma we have endured throughout our lifetime, even our ancestors lifetimes, further cuts us off from our inner knowing.
We can heal.
When we sustain a cut on our skin, we do not have to stare at the wound with our conscious minds and say, "plateletes collide! Form a scab!" Something within us simply knows how to heal. Just like that grass busting through a crack in the pavement in the image above, life knows how to prevail. In a SomatoEmotional Release session, we will hold space and encourage your felt sense to speak to us. I invite you into a sacred space of healing to meet your inner wisdom and learn how you can heal.

What to Expect?
Most often, SomatoEmotional Release (SER) naturally happens within a craniosacral session. As we unwind the tissue, we get to see the roots of the injury and sometimes we can have emotions surface, or even overwhelming physical sensations that seem unprovoked while we work. When these situations arise, we have the tools necessary right there with us to explore and discover what is coming up for you. We have a saying in our field, "it starts on the table". When things come up for us in a session, it is just the start of a total body and mind realization that deserves time and attention to "unpack". This is when I will suggest that our next scheduled session be an SER session to have adequate time and support to thoroughly process and arrive at a place of peace around what has surfaced for you in session.
It is recommended that you bring a journal or some way to record the details of the session as that will be what you refer back to in the days, weeks and months afterwards to continue working with your inner world. It is also recommended that you have a support system set up for yourself as you embark on this work. Having a solid individual or two to talk to and support your processing in between sessions is essential. Please refer to my resources page for help in finding a support system that is right for you. These sessions do not tend to be the end all be all in processing trauma and recovering your true self, in fact they tend to be the start, the key to unlock what is stuck in us and serve as a catalyst on the journey of self-discovery and healing. In this work you will find tools that help you heal that will serve you for the rest of your life.
